October 22, 2024
Dear Bloomingdale Public Schools Families,
I am excited to introduce myself as the superintendent of Bloomingdale Public Schools. Since officially starting on October 1, 2024, I have greatly enjoyed reconnecting with familiar faces and meeting many new people. I’ve been impressed by the many positive things happening in our schools and the dedication of the hard-working staff who make it all possible.
For those who may not know me, I previously served as the Middle and High School Principal here in Bloomingdale for 12 years, from 2006 to 2018. After serving as the superintendent in a neighboring district for the past 5 years, returning to Bloomingdale Schools feels like a homecoming, and I’m honored to once again serve the communities of Bloomingdale, Grand Junction, and Pullman. These are proud, caring communities, and I deeply appreciate the support so many of you provide to our school district.
On a more personal note, I would like to share a bit about my family. I have four adult children: Maria (married to her husband, Marcus), Dominick, Anthony, and Michael. My wife, Lori, and I have been married for thirty years. Lori and I are blessed with a 4-year-old granddaughter, Adalyn, Maria and Marcus’s daughter, who brings so much joy to our lives.
As I begin this new chapter, I want to share that I have developed a 90-day entry plan to guide my initial efforts as superintendent. The focus of this plan is to Listen, Learn, and Lead. During my first three months, I will be reaching out to families, students, staff, and community members to gather input and learn more about the district’s strengths and areas for growth. Your voices are crucial in shaping our path forward, and I will be listening carefully to ensure we are all working together toward a shared vision for success.
I truly appreciate the opportunity the Bloomingdale Board of Education has given me to return to the district in this capacity. I am deeply excited to work with the Board, the entire staff, and the community as we strive together to achieve the district’s vision for success—for the benefit of all of our students.
I look forward to connecting with many of you in the weeks and months ahead and building on the strong foundation already in place. Together, we can continue to make Bloomingdale Public Schools a place where every student is empowered to succeed.
Thank you for the warm welcome and support. I am excited for the future and look forward to working with all of you.
Sincerely,
Rick Reo
Superintendent
